Vichy Catalan


Vichy Catalan was established in 1881. It all started when Dr. Modest Furest y Roca discovered the mineral-medicinal properties of the water spring from a source in Caldes de Malavella, La Selva. He observed that those who that drank from the spring were in very good health. He subsequently decided to study the composition of the water. The famous doctor then acquired the spring and the adjacent land. Vichy Catalan was about to be born, and so began a 140-year history.

Vichy Catalan premium water emerges from the ground at 60 degrees Celsius, giving it a unique personality. The water is rich in minerals from the heart of the earth. It has distinct health properties, particularly in the area of decreasing cholesterol, thus benefitting the heart. It also has a wide range of additional health benefits since it contains 27 of the 34 minerals that the human body needs for good health.

After more than 135 years of history, Vichy Catalan continues to pursue the same goals as its founder, Dr Modest Furest; investigating the beneficial qualities of the water and continuing the development of new healthy products to meet consumer requirements. It is committed to researching three lines of study: digestion, cholesterol metabolism and the nervous system.

PRODUCTION AND THE BOTTLES

Vichy Catalan also means innovation. Throughout its history, the brand has adapted to different times. The production plans have modernized machinery and optimized resources and production time, made it possible to reduce energy expenditure and the impact on the environment.

Vichy Catalan has also adapted its bottles to the modern era until reaching the emblematic 'trencadís' inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudí. In 2017, the World Awards honoured the Vichy Catalan 1.2-litre bottle with the award for the best bottle in the world.
