Mondariz
The story of Aguas de Mondariz revolves around the exploration of its mineral-medicinal waters since its early days by a local named Dr. Domingo Blanco Lage. He was the first person who discovered Mondariz water after observing how local people used it to heal their dermatological injuries. He then started to recommend the water within his medical profession for therapeutic purposes. Mondariz water received a declaration of public utility in 1873, and since 1877.
The spring is located in the town of Mondariz Balneario, Spain. Water is filtered through underlying layers of granite, giving it a unique texture and flavor. The characteristic composition of Mondariz water is determined by the granite of the substrate through which the water circulates and confers producing its unique properties. Studies carried out show that water remains in the aquifer for a period of between 60 and 150 years before gushing out at a constant temperature all year round.
Mondariz became a leading hydrotherapy centre in Spain and supplied the Spanish Royal Family during different reigns. Some of the most illustrious figures from last century enjoyed the therapeutic benefits of Mondariz water, including Isaac Peral, Echegaray, Arniches, Primo de Rivera, Castelao, Wenceslao Fernández Flórez and Castelar.

AWARDS
For the sixth year in a row, this water has achieved the maximum score at the Superior Taste Award, a prize given by the International Taste & Quality Institute (iTQi) of Brussels. As in previous editions, the natural mineral sparkling and still waters earned the classification of “exceptional”, which is only achieved with a score of over 90 points out of a possible 100.
